Dr Angels Sierra, Center of Molecular Oncology, Institut d´Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge, SPAIN Cancer research at IDIBELL is interdisciplinary has focused mainly on genetic instability in colorectal carcinomas, metastatic progression in breast cancer and the development of gene therapies. It is well equipped with the most advanced techniques for gene expression microarrays; proteomics techniques; tissue, cellular and molecular techniques. Within the COM, the research group of Dr Angels Sierra carries out research to study the pathogenic process of metastasis and organ-specificity, especially related to loss of apoptosis and the bcl-2 family. Work is also performed on the mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance and the use of MRI and MRS for diagnostics. Activities in MetaBre: Proteomic analysis, molecular mechanisms of metastasis in CNS tissues, imaging of metastases with MRI/MRS
