Proskelia, now part of the Galapagos group, employs today about 60 scientists in Romainville dedicated to drug discovery in the field of bone and joint diseases, working with the Galapagos research centre at Mechelen, Belgium. Proskelia-Galapagos Romainville research center- as a spinout of Aventis's Bone Disease group- has acquired an excellent expertise in the synthesis of small molecules and in specialized pharmacology, offering innovative therapeutic options in the treatment of bone and joint diseases. In the Mechelen center, the target discovery platform is based on adenoviruses that efficiently introduce human gene sequences into a wide variety of human cells to knock-in or knockdown specific proteins. Proskelia-Galapagos is also active in bone disease related areas, in particular in the field of bone metastasis and cancer induced bone disease.
